bismillah

Waqala allathee amana ya qawmi ittabiAAooni ahdikum sabeela a(l)rrashad(i)

And he who had believed said: My people! Follow me, and I shall guide you to the path of rectitude.

(40:38)

Ya qawmi innama hathihi alhayatu a(l)ddunya mataAAun wainna alakhirata hiya daru alqarar(i)

My people! The life of this world is only a passing enjoyment, and verily the Hereafter! That is the Abode of rest.

(40:39)

Man AAamila sayyiatan fala yujza illa mithlaha waman AAamila salihan min thakarin aw ontha wahuwa muminun faolaika yadkhuloona aljannata yurzaqoona feeha bighayri hisab(in)

Whoever works an evil, he shall not be requited except the like, thereof; and whoever, male or female, works righteously, and is a believer-they will enter a Garden wherein they shall be provided for without measure.

(40:40)

Waya qawmi ma lee adAAookum ila a(l)nnajati watadAAoonanee ila a(l)nnar(i)

And, my people! How is it that I call you unto salvation, while you call me to the Fire?

(40:41)

TadAAoonanee liakfura bi(A)llahi waoshrika bihi ma laysa lee bihi AAilmun waana adAAookum ila alAAazeezi alghaffar(i)

You call me for this, that  I should blaspheme against Allah-SWT , and associate with Him-SWT that of which I have no knowledge, while I call you to the Mighty, the Forgiver.

(40:42)

La jarama annama tadAAoonanee ilayhi laysa lahu daAAwatun fee alddunya wala fee alakhirati waanna maraddana ila Allahi waanna almusrifeena hum ashabu a(l)nnar(i)

Undoubtedly you only call me to what is not to be invoked in this world nor in the Hereafter; and verily our return shall be to Allah-SWT ; and the extravagant! They shall be the inmates of the Fire.

(40:43)

Fasatathkuroona ma aqoolu lakum waofawwidu amree ila Allahi inna Allaha baseerun bi(a)lAAibad(i)

And soon you shall remember what I am telling you. I confide my affair to Allah-SWT ; verily Allah-SWT is the Beholder of His-SWT bondmen.

(40:44)

Fawaqahu Allahu sayyiati ma makaroo wahaqa biali firAAawna sooo alAAathab(i)

So Allah-SWT protected him from the ills, which they plotted, and the evil of the torment surrounded the household of the Pharaoh.

(40:45)

A(l)nnaru yuAAradoona AAalayha ghuduwwan waAAashiyyan wayawma taqoomu a(l)ssaAAatu adkhiloo ala firAAawna ashadda alAAathab(i)

The Fire! They are exposed thereto morning and evening. And on the Day whereon the Hour will rise, it will be said: Cause the household of the Pharaoh to enter the most grievous torment.

(40:46)

Waith yatahajjoona fee a(l)nnari fayaqoolu a(l)dduAAafao lillatheena istakbaroo inna kunna lakum tabaAAan fahal antum mughnoona AAanna naseeban mina a(l)nnar(i)

And consider what time they will wrangle in the Fire together, and the oppressed will say to the stiff-necked: Verily we have been unto you a following; are you going to avail us against a portion of the Fire?

(40:47)

Qala allatheena istakbaroo inna kullun feeha inna Allaha qad hakama bayna alAAibad(i)

Those who were stiff necked will say: Verily we are all in it; Verily Allah-SWT has judged between His-SWT bondmen.

(40:48)

Waqala allatheena fee a(l)nnari likhazanati jahannama odAAoo rabbakum yukhaffif AAanna yawman mina alAAathab(i)

And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell: Pray to your Rabb-SWT that He-SWT may lighten for us a day of torment.

(40:49)

Qaloo awalam taku tateekum rusulukum bi(a)lbayyinati qaloo bala qaloo faodAAoo wama duAAao alkafireena illa fee dalal(in)

They will say: Did not there come to you your Messengers-AS with evidences? They will say: Yea! They will say: Pray then yourselves. And the praying of the infidels is but in wandering.

(40:50)

In The Name of Allah-SWT the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
SECRETS OF REVELATION:

This covert believer tried his level best to convince his people to follow his advice to piety and guidance. The temporal life was indeed a passing phase, not worth preferring over eternal abode of the Akhirah. Whoever sins will have to bear the consequences, while those men or women who accept the true faith and mould their conduct in accordance with it shall be admitted into Jannah, an abode of great comforts and luxury. He told them that it was foolish of them to invite him to their false beliefs, which would definitely drive him to Hell, whereas he was inviting them to Allah-SWT's Pleasure and Jannah. They were asking him to ascribe partners to Allah-SWT , which was indeed preposterous and baseless as no evidence could be found in its support as against his invitation to Allah-SWT Whose-SWT Omnipotence is obvious as the daylight. He-SWT is so Forgiving   that despite obstinate denial, their penitence was certain to invoke His-SWT Forgiveness. All shall inevitably return to Him-SWT and those trespassing His-SWT    limits, that is, the infidels will be condemned to Hell whence they will recall his words.

His nation was infuriated, yet he chose to leave the matter to Allah-SWT , the Omnipresent.  And   He-SWT protected him and they could not harm him  in the least, while the Pharaoh's folk perished having no solace in Barzakh either. And they are exposed to the fire of Hell, both morning and evening.

Retribution in Grave

This Ayah also proves the retribution in the grave and that the dead do not simply vanish into extinction. According to Hadith-SW , the grave is either a pit of Hell, or a garden of Jannah. The nation of the Pharaoh will remain in this state until the Doomsday; followed by a much worse and severer punishment in Hell. They will then dispute with one another, The commoners will remind the ruling lot of their devotion to them imploring for help; at least reduction in the intensity of the flames. The influential will regret being in the same boat, obviously unable to help especially after the Divine Judgement had been passed. They will then request the angels of Hell to pray for them only for a day's respite from the agony of Hell as they were not worthy of being listened to by Allah-SWT . The angels will ask them if Allah-SWT ’S Messengers-AS were not sent to them with evidences. Upon their confession, the angels will tell them to pray for themselves, as they are not allowed to do so for the infidels. But what good would the infidels’ prayers in the Akhirah be, when they had lost the chance to pray in the world.
