إِنَّ قَارُونَ كَانَ مِن قَوْمِ مُوسَى فَبَغَى عَلَيْهِمْ وَآتَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْكُنُوزِ مَا إِنَّ مَفَاتِحَهُ لَتَنُوءُ بِالْعُصْبَةِ أُولِي الْقُوَّةِ إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ قَوْمُهُ لَا تَفْرَحْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفَرِحِينَ

Inna qaroona kana min qawmi moosa fabagha AAalayhim waataynahu mina alkunoozi ma inna mafatihahu latanooo bi(a)lAAusbati olee alquwwati ith qala lahu qawmuhu la tafrah inna Allaha la yuhibbu alfariheen(a)

Verily Qarun was of the people of Musa^-AS; then he behaved arrogantly towards them. And We^-SWT had vouchsafed him of the treasures of which the keys would have weighed down a band of strong men. Recall when his people said to him Exult not; verily Allah^-SWT does not like the exultant

(28:76)

وَابْتَغِ فِيمَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ الدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَأَحْسِن كَمَا أَحْسَنَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَلَا تَبْغِ الْفَسَادَ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

Wa(i)btaghi feema ataka Allahu a(l)ddara alakhirata wala tansa naseebaka mina a(l)ddunya waahsin kama ahsana Allahu ilayka wala tabghi alfasada fee alardi inna Allaha la yuhibbu almufsideen(a)

And seek the abode of the Hereafter with what Allah^-SWT has vouchsafed you, and forget not your portion in the world, and be you generous as Allah^-SWT has been generous to you, and seek not corruption in the land, verily Allah^-SWT approves not corrupters.

(28:77)

قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِيتُهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عِندِي أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِ مِنَ القُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرُ جَمْعًا وَلَا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ

Qala innama ooteetuhu AAala AAilmin AAindee awalam yaAAlam anna Allaha qad ahlaka min qablihi mina alqurooni man huwa ashaddu minhu quwwatan waaktharu jamAAan wala yusalu AAan thunoobihimu almujrimoon(a)

He said: I have achieved all this because of the knowledge I possess. Did he not know that Allah^-SWT had destroyed before him, of the generations, who were stronger than he in might and larger in respect of following? And the culprits will not be questioned of their sins.

(28:78)

فَخَرَجَ عَلَى قَوْمِهِ فِي زِينَتِهِ قَالَ الَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنيَا يَا لَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ قَارُونُ إِنَّهُ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍ

Fakharaja AAala qawmihi fee zeenatihi qala allatheena yureedoona alhayata a(l)ddunya ya layta lana mithla ma ootiya qaroonu innahu lathoo haththin AAatheem(in)

Then he went forth before his people in his pomp. Then those who sought the life of this world said: Would that we had the like of what has been vouchsafed to Qarun? Surely he is the owner of a great fortune.

(28:79)

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّمَنْ آمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا وَلَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا الصَّابِرُونَ

Waqala allatheena ootoo alAAilma waylakum thawabu Allahi khayrun liman amana waAAamila salihan wala yulaqqaha illa a(l)ssabiroon(a)

And those who were given the knowledge said Woe be to you! The reward of Allah^-SWT is best for him who believes and works righteously, and none shall attain it except the steadfast

(28:80)

فَخَسَفْنَا بِهِ وَبِدَارِهِ الْأَرْضَ فَمَا كَانَ لَهُ مِن فِئَةٍ يَنصُرُونَهُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ المُنتَصِرِينَ

Fakhasafna bihi wabidarihi alarda fama kana lahu min fiatin yansuroonahu min dooni Allahi wama kana mina almuntasireen(a)

Then We^-SWT sank the earth with him and his dwelling-place. And he had no host to defend him against Allah^-SWT , nor was he of those who could defend themselves.

(28:81)

وَأَصْبَحَ الَّذِينَ تَمَنَّوْا مَكَانَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيْكَأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَقْدِرُ لَوْلَا أَن مَّنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَا وَيْكَأَنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الْكَافِرُونَ

Waasbaha allatheena tamannaw makanahu bi(a)lamsi yaqooloona waykaanna Allaha yabsutu a(l)rrizqa liman yashao min AAibadihi wayaqdiru lawla an manna Allahu AAalayna lakhasafa bina waykaannahu la yuflihu alkafiroon(a)

And those who had coveted his lot the day before now began to say: Ah! Allah^-SWT expands the provision for whoever of His^-SWT bondmen He^-SWT wills, and also stints. Had not Allah^-SWT been gracious to us, He^-SWT would have sunk the earth with us also. Ah! The infidels do not thrive.

(28:82)
